Donkey Pals Monthly Meetings

HeeHaw to all you DonkeyPals!

Pull out those calendars and datebooks and mark down Saturday, July 19, 2008 at 1pm as an important date!!! The DonkeyPals July Picnic meeting will be held this year at the home of Doug and Mindi Shwetz!!! Their address is 9595 Knowlton Rd. / Garrettsville / 44231 This will be a potluck picnic and Doug and Mindi will supply the beverages, the burgers and dogs, plates to put them on and a spoons and forks to eat the stuff that all of you will bring!!!

This should be a fun day of socializing and donkey talkin' and is a great way to meet all the members in a friendly kind of way! If you've never been to a meeting, this is your chance to come and introduce yourself and show us pics of your donkeys! If you work evenings and haven't been able to come, we hope this is something at a better time you can make! If you don't have a donkey but you want to meet some folks that know more than your average donkey Joe...come on, bring a bag of chips and learn!!! Do you have a friend who has been thinking about getting a donkey? Bring them to the donkey picnic!!! It's all about having fun, meeting new folks and talkin' donkey!!

Please don't forget your donkey picnic manners!!!! If you can come or can't come, please please email and tell me or email Doug and Mindi at oscartheweinerdog@msn.com and let them know. Also, when you reply please give us some idea of what kind of dish you'll bring to pass so we don't end up with 12 pans of brownies....unless of course you all think 12 pans of brownies and a burger will work for you!!

It also was suggested that everyone bring some sort of pricing list from their current vet along with their name and location so we can do some comparisons on certain things, like gelding, vaccinations, farm calls, etc....

We hope you can come and we look forward to seeing EVERYONE!

Speaker: Ingrid Nelson to speak about the Delta Society

Ingrid Nelson has been involved in training dogs and horses for
over 30 years.  Her love for all animals and her desire to share how
special they are, directed her into the world of Animal Assisted
Therapy.

After being actively involved in therapy work for over 10 years,
Ingrid is now a licensed evaluator for Delta Society, the nations
leading organization for registering suitable animals to provide
Animal Assisted Therapy to a variety of groups, from children to the
elderly, to those needing assistance from an animal.

Ingrid will talk about the immediate value of animals in therapy work
as well as long term benefits to society that animal therapy provides.
She will discuss the evaluation process and why all the skills are
important for visiting animals, and why equines are especially
excellent providers of animal assisted therapy.
